First climb this year and is located in the province of Cavite. Together with my former office-mate and her husband, we conquer the summit of Mt. Pico de Loro overnight.
Met the couple in Pasay Rotonda around eight in the morning then we ride Saulog bus leading us to Ternate terminal. From there, we ride a tricycle that drop us to DENR office to pay the environmental fee before taking us to the jump-off point. On the way to the first camp site, easy trail will guide you to reach your destination. Aside from the signage and obvious clean trail, everyone will also notice those colorful ribbons tied on various plants and trees along the way.
Reaching the base camp around 11:30, we pay for the registration fee and have our little refreshments. Available also here is a store where you can buy some foods and drinks and a booth where memorabilia of Pico de Loro climb can avail. A stop for the comfort of a washroom built on the corner of the base camp is such a necessary structure to use there before continuing the climb to the camp site. lol!
Though somehow got lost on the way to the camp site, the three of us finally reach it and pitch our tents around four in the afternoon. We just rest for a while and decided to start our ascend for the summit. A bit steep but still we managed to reach it and had a great view of the famous “Parrot’s Peak”, the plains of Cavite and part of South China Sea.
The following morning, we started our descend but didn’t forgot to drop and take a view of the waterfalls near the first base camp. The couple just had a quick shower while I indulge myself on the cold water while washing my muddy feet.
Afterwards, we headed in the base camp and have our late lunch, then continue our way down and immediately ride our way back to Manila. Truly, an experience that I will never forget!
